Up for sale is an Eko Florentine in excellent, original condition and perfect working order. One of the rarest and most visually striking Eko hollowbodies, this guitar features two of Eko's famous low-output single-coil pickups paired with a four-knob push-button selector system, and a unique Bigsby-esque vibrato unit with a centrally located spring and impossibly long original vibrato arm. The two raised pickguards and matching knobs make the guitar a real head-turner, and this guitar is the epitome of vintage Italian electric guitar construction. Tonally, the guitar has a bright, crisp, hollow twang. Both pickups have a microphonic quality on the edge of feedback, being particularly biting and cutting, and the instrument responds very well to picking dynamics and is also a good choice for fingerpicking. The guitar has been set up for 10-46 strings.
The neck has a medium D-shaped profile and a pleasant playing feel. The rosewood fingerboard retains the original slim fretting on the 24 3/4" scale and the frets show little wear. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width and the headstock features the original tuning machines (one has been replaced, D string), which still hold pitch well and function as intended.
The fully hollow maple body measures 13 1/2" at the lower bout, with the radical shape of the body mimicked by the two thick, raised pickguards, the lower of which carries the pickup selector knobs. There is a choice of one or both pickups, a mute function and master volume and tone buttons. The guitar is otherwise very clean and a rare, complete example of one of Eko's more unique models.
