There are many myths surrounding the history of the "Greeny", but few guitars are as famous. The Greeny is one of the most famous original Les Paul™ standards of all time with a unique sound that is as unmistakable as the guitar itself. It was once owned by Peter Green, who played it during his time with Fleetwood Mac. He later sold it to Gary Moore, who played it for three decades as a member of Thin Lizzy and as a solo artist. The current owner of the Greeny is Kirk Hammett, so it has been the guitar of three legendary guitarists. Its unique sound comes in part from the out-of-phase position of the center switch due to the reversed magnetic polarity of the pickup on the neck. The Epiphone Kirk Hammett "Greeny" Les Paul Standard is the result of a collaboration between Epiphone and the Gibson Custom Shop. The inspiration for this extraordinary guitar is Kirk's legendary original. It gives musicians all over the world the opportunity to feel a little of the magic of the "Greeny" for themselves. It features premium components like Gibson USA Greenybucker pickups, with the one on the neck mounted in reverse and having a reversed polarity magnet, a Switchcraft® pickup switch and 1/4-inch output jack, CTS® pots, Mallory™ capacitors and Grover® Rotomatic® tuners with Spade knobs on an open-book headstock.
