Since their introduction to the market in the late 1950s, Gibson's famous Patent Applied For humbuckers™ have been considered the ultimate pickups for their smooth, velvety tone. The '57 Classic Plus uses coils with a slight overwound, just like the original Patent Applied For humbuckers of the late 1950s, which were inadvertently given some extra wire windings. The balanced coils of the '57 Classic Plus provide a warm, creamy sound. They are the perfect companion to the '57 Classic at the bridge, offering a little more sound without sacrificing any of the full vintage tone.
Each '57 Classic Plus Humbucker™ features the same enamel-like coated coils, Alnico 2 magnets and maple spacers as the original models. This results in a creamy, smooth output with a full sound, whether with overdrive or without. The '57 Classic Plus pickups are so authentic that they even have the original Patent Applied For sticker on the base plate. All pickups feature braided, two-core wiring and are fully waxed to prevent microphonic feedback.
