The sound of a legend
The sounds that inspired the design and naming of the XTC OD are no coincidence. The pedal was inspired by the warm and extremely expressive Red Channel of a famous American amplifier manufacturer - a sound that has been featured on numerous albums for three decades.
The pedal's palette ranges from very light and articulate crunch, perfect for blues and classic rock, to scorching-hot distortion, ideal for hard rock. The XTC OD is therefore a tremendous asset on the pedalboard for blowing up the sound of an amplifier for solos or fat riffs!
Simplicity and efficiency
The XTC OD dispenses with complex control options and confusing secondary modes: three controls for volume, gain and tone - that's it! And as is so often the case, simplicity guarantees efficiency: plug in the guitar, set the sound and off you go!
From a control setting of around 10 o'clock, the gain structure of the pedal sounds very pronounced, warm and powerful and is therefore ideal for rhythm sounds or even solos on a slightly distorted amplifier.
If you turn the gain pot to 13 o'clock, we enter a whole new level of boutique high-gain tone. A tastefully warm-sounding and musically compressive distortion is revealed here. The tone control adds well-dosed high mids and highs to the dense gain sound. Simple, effective and discreet, both in terms of dimensions and electronics, the true bypass design of the XTC-OD offers a universally applicable pedal that can be used as an overdrive or distortion pedal for powerful riffs and chords as well as for solos and daring solo escapades.
