In the early 1960s, a bold new musical culture was developing in Southern California - and Leo Fender was a driving force behind it. His mission: to build fresh, innovative acoustic instruments that reflected the creative spirit of the artists of his time. Together with legendary German guitarist and instrument maker Roger Rossmeisl, Leo developed unique acoustic models with the signature Fender feel that remains a symbol of the rock 'n' roll revolution. Distinctive details like headstock shapes, player-friendly neck profiles and radical new styling gave Fender acoustic instruments a strong character. Our Fender California Vintage models pick up right where we left off - in the middle of the last century, with a beautiful retro vibe, refined acoustic tone - and 21st century modern features. A contemporary alternative with tangible Fender roots.
The Fender California Vintage Palomino is equipped with the innovative Performance-X™ bracing. The top is made of solid Sitka spruce, while the sides and back are made of solid Ovangkol. With its mid-sized, lightweight auditorium body, the California Vintage Palomino develops a clear, cleanly articulated and detailed sound. The Okume neck in ergonomic V-profile with 25" scale length supports a long sustain, the backward sloping headstock with 6 row machine heads and maple headcap reminds of Fender electric guitars. Other details include: bound Ovangkol fingerboard with pearloid block inlays for that classy nostalgic look, vintage-style tuners for easy and precise tuning, and bone nut and bridge inlay for consistent harmonics. We seamlessly inserted the built-in Fishman® Sonitone Plus preamp system into the soundhole, and the controls let you tune the signals from the undersaddle piezo and body transducer. This allows you to play the natural sound of the guitar unaltered even through amp, system and recording equipment. A case in vintage design is also included.
Self-confident, eye-catching, strong character: California Series instruments make no compromises. They combine ease of play with outstanding sound and exceptional design. For artists who want to develop musically and are looking for an instrument to accompany them along the way.
