Appearing in 1958 as the AC-2, the Vox AC-4 sported a 6.5 inch speaker delivering 3.5 watts. The speaker was quickly upgraded to an 8 inch model, and the name changed to AC-4.

These small amps produce a fantastic, warm tone, readily overdriven at quite a reasonable volume.

This example dates to early 1964 and is in all original condition, with the ELAC speaker (made in Germany) and the voltage selector still in place. Its controls are simple – volume, speed (for the vibrato circuit) and the tone control oubles as the power switch. There are two inputs, so a student and their teacher could both plug in.

Vox at the time was owned by Jennings Musical Industries.
